Informational Tweets From Official Twilight Twitter

14 Oct 2009

I figured that @Twilight has been posting some pretty useful information. First off, Chris Weitz was a "guest" tweeter, the original movie run time was accurate, and you can now fully preview the soundtrack, which again is being released Friday:

Visit the MySpace Twilight community to stream the entire soundtrack and pre-order your album before Friday! http://tinyurl.com/yg3rg9x

For all those that have asked, @Twilight is run by Summit Ent. Chris Weitz guest tweeted, and he appreciates all of your well wishes
about 2 hours ago from web

A quick clarification on the final runtime. 2:10 includes the credits, so the movie part of it runs just over 2 hours. About 2:01.

Official 'Twilight' Twitter Account

12 Oct 2009

I really should compile a list of all the official twitter accounts from cast members and so forth, and I will sometime soon (I promise!)... but in the meantime enjoy the official Twilight Twitter account. So far Chris Weitz has been tweeting some updates, as well as a tweet with the official run time for 'New Moon', which is different than what a previous article had claimed:

The final run time of The Twilight Saga: New Moon is 2 hours and ten minutes!
about 6 hours ago from web

There is also a photo of Chris Weitz from the sound mixing stage here.

Weitz Talks 'New Moon'

19 Sep 2009

Box Office has a nice feature story with Chris Weitz discussing 'New Moon':

One of my favorite New Moon conspiracy theories is that the producers are ordering Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to keep their love hidden because it will affect the way people will perceive the story, even though the story is already known even until the next two books.

The fans know what the Volturi look like or what Taylor Lautner as Jacob's amazing bod is going to look like—the producers know these things are big points of curiosity about whether we've been able to be faithful to people's notions. And they want to parse these things out over time. [Laughs] It is a conspiracy, but the conspiracy is called marketing.

'New Moon' Director Finds The Cure For Robert Pattinson Withdrawal

24 Aug 2009

'We've got a nice dose of Taylor [Lautner] to sweeten any Rob deficiencies,' Chris Weitz tells MTV News.

SAN DIEGO - It's hard to imagine a fall movie we're more excited to see than "New Moon," the feverishly anticipated sequel to last year's "Twilight" and, technically, the prequel to next year's "Eclipse." You know the players, you know the plot details, and you've watched the trailers a few hundred times.

Now, with a mere 13 weeks (!) until we can finally watch the Bella/Edward/Jacob love triangle get even pointier, director Chris Weitz sat down with MTV News for an exclusive chat about his "New Moon" rising.

MTV: You revealed two scenes that were a big hit at Comic-Con. How do they fit into the movie?

Chris Weitz: We showed two new scenes, and each one focused on abdominal muscles. That was the high point, I think, for the audience. [Laughs.] One scene was the one in which Jacob is teaching Bella how to ride a motorcycle. She falls, he comes to rescue her and dab her forehead - thereby revealing his bodacious abs and chest. And the other is Bella rushing to save Edward when he decides to commit suicide by revealing himself to the humans in Volterra, Italy.

Paul And Chris Weitz Both Making Vampire Films Was A 'Complete Fluke'

20 Aug 2009

Paul Weitz is directing 'Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant' while brother Chris tackles 'New Moon.'

HOLLYWOOD - Ten years ago, brothers Paul and Chris Weitz burst on the scene with "American Pie," a raunchy, out-of-nowhere hit that would define comedies - and the careers of actors like Alyson Hannigan and Seann William Scott - for years to come.

Now they're the kings of ... vampires?

These days, Chris is hard at work on November's "New Moon," while Paul is similarly slaving away on October's "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant." Both are based on wildly popular book series, involve teenage protagonists having their eyes opened to the darkness beneath their everyday existence and are envisioned as part of a multi-movie franchises.

Following up on two of the hottest new trailers to hit the Web, we visited the duo's Depth of Field production offices to speak with the older Weitz brother about their bloodsucking blockbusters, the similarities between RPattz and John C. Reilly and whether Paul will direct "Breaking Dawn."

MTV: Paul, the first question is an obvious one: What is it with you guys and vampires?

Paul Weitz: [Laughs.] Well, it was a complete fluke that we both have made vampire movies. But the weird thing is that our grandmother [Lupita Tovar] actually starred in the Spanish-language version - so there is a weird family vampire connection.

'New Moon' Director Confirms Thom Yorke, Bon Iver For Soundtrack

06 Aug 2009

We already told you that "New Moon" director Chris Weitz said Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was interested in contributing a song to the movie, due in theaters November 20.

And while Yorke's people wouldn't confirm the potentially mind-blowing collabo, Weitz revealed on Thursday that he's got the track in hand and can't wait to listen. Speaking to the entertainment Web site HitFix.com amid the Comic-Con madness, Weitz said that he has not only secured a new song from the Radiohead mastermind, but also one from freak-folkie Bon Iver.

"I selfishly want to put songs in by artists I love. And some the cast and crew also happen to love," Weitz said. "I think [Bon Iver] is fantastic. He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard." Weitz said he'll be listening to the Yorke track Friday (July 24) and said that "unless it's sounds of him belching, I think I'll put it in." Spokespeople for Yorke and Bon Iver could not be reached for comment at press time.

Weitz also said he's planning to include a track from the British trio Band of Skulls and once again mentioned that he'd like to get a Kings of Leon song for the soundtrack to the "Twilight" sequel. The "Twilight" soundtrack has sold more than 2.1 million copies to date.

'New Moon' Director Chris Weitz Says Taylor Lautner 'Embodied' Jacob

04 Aug 2009

'Twilight' filmmaker also discusses Dakota Fanning's 'genuinely scary' performance, possible Stephenie Meyer cameo.

SAN DIEGO - Chris Weitz made big news when he stepped in for Catherine Hardwicke as director on the second "Twilight" film. Over the months, and recently at Comic-Con, the fans have come to embrace him with as much affection as they did his predecessor.

As Weitz gets back to work editing November's "New Moon," we caught up with him to discuss such key fan issues as a Stephenie Meyer cameo, Dakota Fanning's evil ways and Taylor Lautner's abs.

MTV: Chris, "New Moon" has a lot of disparate elements. You need to portray a love that's Shakespearean, like "Romeo and Juliet," but at the same time do action scenes and car chases, and at the same time do effects work with werewolves and vampires. Which is the hardest, and how are you dealing with it?

Chris Weitz: The hardest thing to do is to blend all these elements into one thing that seems like a coherent whole. We [need to make sure we] don't just stop for the action sequence or stop and have the audience say, "Oh, what a great special effect!" You want it to be a complete, seamless experience in which the emotions of the characters are what's foremost. The hardest thing, but also the most enjoyable thing, is working with actors. You can control everything else, except the weather - what really matters is the characters and the feelings that they evoke in the readers of the book. It's the hardest stuff, but it's also the stuff that makes it the most satisfying when you get it right.

'New Moon' Won't Feature Nude Scene, Director Says

03 Aug 2009

Chris Weitz gave this following statement to MTV News:

"I would like to put everyone's mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked!" Weitz said in an e-mail statement to MTV News. "Jamie has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me - which is why he's such a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always - as in the book! - fully clothed."

And there you have it.

12 Minutes 49 Seconds with Chris Weitz, Director of New Moon

29 Jul 2009

TIME has an interview posted online with Chris Weitz. Interesting title for the interview, lol.

Taylor seems the most comfortable with this level of scrutiny. He doesn't squirm as much.

It's funny. In a way he's the least prepared for the intense scrutiny, but he's very balanced about it. Whereas I think Rob and Kristen are very sheepish about it. Not that they don't appreciate it. But they're thrown a bit by it.

They just seem very human about it. I mean, who would not be freaked out by that?

If you enjoyed it too much it would be weird. It would mean you were addicted to that kind of adulation. The thing is, there's so much love coming towards you, but you can't really tell whether it's towards the characters or the actors themselves, or towards an image in the media. and that's strange.
